Dry eye & the tear film

an incomplete blink never renews the top layerlipidaqueousmucincornealipid stops evaporation · aqueous is the bulk · mucin holds it downdryness is usually a blinking problem, not a water one
The fix

Blink fully, rest the eyes on distance, and keep air from blowing at your face.

Why it happens

A thin tear film protects and focuses the eye. Screen work thins it through low blink rate, partial blinks, and dry moving air — so vision blurs and the eye compensates by working harder.

If you ignore it

Persistent tear-film instability is the core of digital eye strain: fluctuating focus, sensitivity, and fatigue that build across the day.
